Team

Bare Hill Rowing Association (BHRA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the sport of rowing within the greater Harvard, MA community.

Bromfield Acton-Boxborough Rowing is a member of USRowing Association and is the interscholastic rowing program of BHRA, combining the scholastic communities of Harvard and Acton-Boxborough Regional Schools. Our team is officially recognized as a member of the Massachusetts Public School Rowing Association. BHRA also sponsors rowing for adults through our summer Learn To Row Program.

Harvard residents with a student attending a publicly funded school (i.e., Parker Charter, Monty Tech), is eligible to compete with our team.  Please note due to the MPSRA by-laws for a composite team of 2 school districts, this exception is only extended to the "host" team's (Bromfield) town residents.

With a very competitive varsity and novice program, Bromfield Acton-Boxborough Rowing offers a rewarding experience for rowers of all abilities.

Varsity rowers compete against other top public and private schools and club programs from all over the northeastern United States in 1,500 and 2,000 meter races in the spring season. In the fall, rowers compete in several longer head races, including the premiere head race in the world – The Head of the Charles, as well as the Head of the Fish, Tail of the Fish and Head of the Housatonic.

Our Boys' and Girls' Varsity Teams have won numerous titles at state and regional regattas. In the spring of 2009 and fall of 2010, the Boys' Varsity Eight captured the Gold Medal at the Massachusetts Public School Championship. The Girls' Varsity Eight and Double brought more Gold medals to the program by winning at the 2010 Massachusetts Public School Championship. With all of the girls’ crews medaling at States, Bromfield Acton-Boxborough Girls' Team took home the 2nd Place Overall State Title. In the fall of 2010, the girls added a gold in the Varsity Eight, Quad, Double and Novice Eight, as well as a silver medal in the Varsity Eight and Single and the Team Trophy.

In the early summer of 2010, Bromfield Acton-Boxborough qualified a Boys' Four and a Girls' Double for the Youth National Championships in Batavia, Ohio. The Double placed 6th and the Four placed 13th.

The Novice Team is made up of athletes with no rowing experience. Learning to row in both sweep and sculling boats, they will compete against similarly experienced rowers from other schools in both the spring and fall seasons.
