ABOUT THE LAUNCH FUNDRAISER
Hands-on projects are one of Coach Gary’s lifelong passions. One of Gary’s favorite “someday” projects has been outfitting the pontoon hull he inherited from Still Water Design. Each year, he’d look at it sitting in the Barba field and say, “I want to get that ready to go so I can use it next spring.”
Now, as Gary continues his recovery — steadily, but with a journey still ahead — we have the chance to complete this project in his honor. Our plan is to have the pontoon launch ready to debut at Harvard Henley 2026, where we hope Coach Gary will be there in person to christen it and give it its name.
As Gary knew, this wakeless tri-pontoon launch will benefit the entire BHRA rowing community. It is designed to make coaching and training smoother and more effective. Fully outfitted, it provides coaches with a safe, stable, and efficient way to guide rowers on the water, follow practices and races closely, and ensure the safety of every crew. Wakeless design reduces disruption when multiple boats are on the pond — ideal for summer’s “no-wake” restrictions. More than a piece of equipment, it’s a lasting investment in the spirit that defines Coach Gary and our program.
