ERGON is the hottest, most fantastic mind-body workout to hit the gym! Experience a new adult fitness class that uses the ergometer (also known as an “indoor rower”) as the centerpiece, similar to a spinning class. Whether you are a “first timer” or a cardio-enthusiast looking for a new challenge, this unique, fun and energizing workout is a perfect way to get and stay fit….for life!

WHAT

ADULT fitness class that uses the Concept2 Ergometer with the option to also use the Concept2 BikeErg or a spin bike. For the “first timer” or a cardio-enthusiast looking for a new challenge.

  • A non-competitive program, go-at-your-own-pace.
  • Full or 5 class ("Five-Pack") enrollment options.
  • Individual instruction and targets for improvement.
  • Non-intimidating group atmosphere.
  • Fantastic winter cross-training for other sports.
  • No experience necessary!

*ERGON staff will coach and train you so that you, too, can benefit from the sport of rowing. Fitness fans have made indoor rowing the most popular workout across the country.

WHEN

Classes held MONDAY and THURSDAY evenings.
Class time 6:15pm – 7:30pm

Session 1 - 5 weeks, 10 classes
Thursday, January 3 to Thursday, February 7
(No class on Monday, January 21 - MLK Day)

Session 2 - 5 weeks, 10 classes
Monday, February 11 to Thursday, March 21
(No class on Monday, February 18 or Thursday, February 21)

Session 3 - 5 weeks, 10 classes
Monday, March 25 to Thursday, May 2
(No class on Monday, April 15 or Thursday, April 18)

Enter the main entrance to school and follow ERGON signs down the right hallway. Free parking available.

Fee Options

  • $120.00 for a FULL 5-week session, 2 nights a week
  • $   85.00 for a FIVE-PACK*. Good for any one of our class dates in Session 1, 2 or 3.
    *This eliminates the former 'walk-in' option. Your name will be on our roster so you just have to jump on the erg and go.

If I purchased the FIVE-PACK, do I need to make a reservation?
No, but we can’t guarantee an erg. Space is limited. Best to reserve an erg in advance by sending an email to Mark Lyvers.

If I try the first two classes and don't wish to continue, will I get a refund?
Yes, you may request a full refund.

Is coaching?
Mark Lyvers

Mark, a Harvard, MA resident and sculler, and Syracuse University graduate, rower and coach returns to Bare Hill pond to coach at BABR. Mark began his rowing career in Hyde Park, New York where he was captain of his high school rowing team. From there, Mark went on to collegiate rowing at Division 1 Syracuse University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and earning an MBA in finance from Syracuse's Graduate School of Management. Mark established rowing as a varsity sport for women at Syracuse and served as the program's first Head Coach and Director. A successful businessman, Mark's passion for rowing never dimmed. Over the years, he has rowed and competed from the pond to the Olympic level and has coached a variety of programs including learn to row, high school, collegiate and master's. A Harvard resident since 1986, he is a self-taught sculler ("still learning after 40 years") and was the Co-founder of the original Bromfield rowing program and assistant coach for the first season. In 2014, Mark was inducted into Syracuse University's Rowing Hall of Fame, recognized for his outstanding contributions to the sport. Mark joined the Bromfield Acton-Boxborough Rowing Team's staff in September of 2017 as the Eighth Grade Sculling Coach.

WHAT TO BRING

Athletic sneakers, workout clothes (tank top or t-shirt and spandex shorts), water and if you have them – a foam roller, yoga mat and your favorite play list.

Cancellations

  • Insufficient Enrollment
    BHRA reserves the right to cancel any session with insufficient enrollment and refund program fees in full.
  • Inclement weather
    We reluctantly cancel a class if we need to due to inclement weather or other building closure. If the Bromfield School is closed or has an early release due to inclement weather, there will be no evening classes.

There are no refunds or make-up days for cancelled classes due to inclement weather or closure. If we can provide an alternate date or time for a make-up class, we will let you know but this is neither an implied or express guarantee nor our policy.

Absences

  • No make up classes will be provided for absence.
  • In the event of coach absence, BHRA reserves the right to provide a qualified substitute coach.

Refund Policies

  1. A participant who registers for a session (5 weeks of classes) that is cancelled for any reason by BHRA will receive a full refund.
  2. A participant registered for a session who requests a refund before the third class will receive a full refund.
  3. A participant registered for a session who withdraws after the third class receives no refund.
  4. Five-Pack purchases are non-refundable.
