Nancy Young

Assistant Varsity Boys Coach

Nancy rowed for three years at Tufts University in a novice eight, varsity eight and lightweight four. Her crew career spawned a lifetime love and commitment to endurance sports competition and training. Nancy has competed in sprint and endurance triathlons, half-marathons and century cycling events. She is a Certified Spinning Instructor and a Body Training Systems Group Fitness Instructor in both cycling and kick-boxing. Since 2005, Nancy has been teaching a weekly indoor cycling class and monthly endurance cycling class to competitive and recreational athletes. Nancy also has a deep interest and knowledge of interval, cardiovascular and strength training. Her passion for fitness is rivaled only by her great love of science! She teaches Earth Science and Biology to high school freshmen and sophomores at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School. She enjoys working with teenagers (really!) and motivating students and athletes alike to set and work towards goals, discover inner strength and shape themselves as disciplined, committed individuals.

Beyond her years rowing crew, Nancy has ample boating and on-water experience. She grew up sailing and messing around in all kinds of boats in Harwich Port (Cape Cod), MA. While completing her master’s degree in Fisheries Science, Nancy spent three summers piloting a research vessel on the Hudson River.
