Team Definitions

Learn to Row:  6th and 7th graders

Middle School:  8th graders

Novice:  The length of Novice eligibility is defined by 2 seasons of rowing starting at the 9th grade, including upper grades. No rowing experience is required to join the Novice Team. A Novice who starts in the fall, and also rows in the spring will have completed their Novice eligibility.  Novices who start in the spring would return to the Novice team in the fall, then move to the varsity in the following spring.

Varsity: Athletes who have completed two seasons of the Novice program or, as an upperclass student, has been invited by the varsity coach to join the varsity team.

NOTE: There will be no reduction in fee if an athlete joins late.

  1. REGISTRATION, PAYMENT AND SUBMISSION OF FORMS TAKES PLACE ONLY ONLINE. Once your registration is electronically submitted, the required supplemental forms may be uploaded at the time of registration. Please scan and send a PDF's of physical and swim test form. No jpeg accepted.

    IMPORTANT: Registrations are not considered complete until online registration is complete AND all supplemental forms are submitted.   
     
  2.  Please note: Coaches do NOT collect any forms or fees.
     
  3.  All required forms and fees MUST be received by the dates indicated in the chart to be eligible for the first day of practice. Athletes with incomplete forms or payment will not be allowed to practice on the first day of these dates
     
  4.  Athletes must  be current on all payments to the club, including equipment fee obligations, to be eligible to register, participate or practice for any given season, despite registration being complete.   
     
  5.  Athletes must have registered as a NEW MEMBER with USRowing.org or RENEWED their membership to include eligibility through fall season dates (through November 30, 2023).  
     
  6. ALL applicants who withdraw before the registration deadline of their program will receive a full refund less the processing fee.
     
  7. To comply with state regulations, physical exams are required every thirteen months to the day of the exam. For example, if a student-athlete has a physical exam dated  August 1, 2022 that exam will expire on September 1, 2023, meaning as of September 2, 2023, the student-athlete becomes ineligible to practice or compete until they present proof of a current physical exam to the BHRA Registrar. 

    If your child's physical will expire during the fall season, please schedule a doctor’s appointment as soon as possible and submit the updated physical to the BHRA Registrar BEFORE the expiration date. 

    There will be no exceptions to this rule, nor will there be extensions granted based upon a doctor’s note. If you have a current physical on file with BHRA that meets this date criteria, you do NOT need to resubmit this form.

Bare Hill Rowing Association is committed to the safety, welfare, education and standards of conduct of its members. We are dedicated to providing a healthy, safe and supportive environment for all rowers to learn, compete and excel in the sport of rowing. 

BHRA affirms its commitment to those principles through participation in the SafeSport campaign, adopted in conjunction with USRowing and the United States Olympic Committee. Find the BHRA SafeSport Policy, below.

Each season we will be following COVID-19 protocols consistent with all current state, local and USRowing guidelines. Please see our protocol documents, below. 

BHRA likewise sets forth important information in its Parent and Rower Handbook.  BHRA  is guided by the policies and procedures, including disciplinary procedures, of The Bromfield School as set forth in the school Handbook.
