Winter Training

All athletes are invited to participate in Winter Training - the registration link is at the bottom of this page.

Winter training is an important time to build fitness, strength, core stability, flexibility, and to work on technique.  "Spring races are won in the winter"

Winter training includes rowing on ergometers, as well as strength training with Olympic lifts, and body weight exercises for general fitness, agility and injury prevention.

Athletes can choose to do 1 to 5 days a week.   Athletes doing other winter sports can choose to train fewer days per week to cross train and keep in touch with rowing.

NEW Location:  50 Audubon Drive, Acton (Recreation building)

Refunds, Absences, Inclement Weather and Transportation

  • NO REFUND of fees will be issued after 7 days from the first day of the program.
  • Absences: If you miss a practice and you are not signed up for 5 days a week, talk to your coach about coming on a different day that week.  Make up days are by permission only.
  • Inclement weather:  Please use your own judgment - some athletes may live close by on clear roads driven by parents, while others are further away on back roads.  Our coaches always try to hold practice for those that can safely attend.   Because road conditions may change during the day, do not assume that the session is canceled based on the morning closing of Bromfield or A-B. By the same token, if road conditions worsen during the day, please check with your coach before heading out. We will make every attempt to notify you of our plans by email or phone.  We will rely on you to assess based on your situation with respect to safe travel.
  • Transportation to facility: It is the sole responsibility of parents to provide their child’s transportation.

Safety

Our number one goal is to help keep our athletes safely engaged in physical activity and connected with their teammates.

Bare Hill Rowing Association is committed to the health and safety of its members and the greater community.  We operate in accordance with protocols set forth by USRowing, the national governing body of the sport of rowing, as well as State, local and town regulations.

No athlete should attend practice if they are not feeling well. If you experience Flu or COVID-like symptoms – stay home and get a COVID test. You should notify your coach so they know you will be absent.

Participants are welcome to wear a mask while working out.

Try Rowing Waiver

From time to time we have an open practice for newcomers to give rowing a try.  If you are interested in our next event, please contact the Program Director.  A waiver is required.
