Winter Training

BHRA offers an optional winter training program, with all our athletes invited to participate.

Athletes doing other winter sports can choose the one/two-day option to cross train and keep in touch with rowing.

Winter training is a great opportunity to build fitness, strength, core stability, flexibility, and importantly, to work on technique.

Location:  258 Great Road, Acton (formerly Goulds)

Who May Join?

  • All members of the Bromfield Acton-Boxborough Rowing team: 6th - 12th grades
  • Middle School athletes will have the option to choose which days to participate.   Their workouts will be scaled accordingly to their age and physical development
  • If space allows, any individual who may be  interested in joining the team in the spring (9th grade and above), and wants to get a head start in the winter would be considered. They should express interest HERE

Refunds, Absences , Inclement Weather and Transportation

  • NO REFUND of fees will be issued after the first week of the program.
  • Absences: Since participation is voluntary, no make-up session(s) will be provided.
  • Inclement weather: If we can't hold an IN-PERSON practice due to bad weather, we would move to REMOTE for that practice.  Because road conditions may change during the day, do not make the assumption that the IN-PERSON session is canceled based on the morning closing of Bromfield or A-B. By the same token, if road conditions worsen during the day, please check with your coach before heading out. We will make every attempt to notify you of our plans to switch to REMOTE by email or phone. However, we will rely on you to use your judgment with respect to safe travel.
  • Transportation to facility: It is the sole responsibility of parents to provide their child’s transportation.

Safety

We will continue to address COVID concerns. Our number one goal is to help keep our athletes safely engaged in physical activity and connected with their teammates.

We will adjust our requirements (such as mask wearing) based on the level of COVID concerns. Participants are welcomed to wear a mask while working out.

No athlete should attend practice if they are not feeling well. If you experience flu like or COVID-like symptoms – stay home and get a COVID test. You should notify your coach so they know you will be absent.
